Financial Infidelity-What is that?

Financial infidelity is a hot topic in the financial and psychology world right now. It is an odd idea, yet I think most of us have experienced it! We are all in shock, feel anger or sadness when we find out about relationship infidelity: up till now most of us just turn our head on financial infidelity.

Take this small quiz.
· Have you ever lied (even a white lie) about how much money you spent on something?
· Have you hidden purchases from your spouse, parents, children or friends?
· Have you told your partner that you paid less for a purchase than you actually did?

You’re not alone! In a study done by Money Magazine where 1,000 people were interviewed the following alarming statistics were revealed. Sixteen percent admitted that they had bought something that they did not want their spouse to know about. Forty percent admitted that they have told their partner that they paid less for a purchase than they actually did.

Forty-five percent of those who admitted being deceitful around spending stated that they were not honest about their spending in order to avoid their partner’s anger, disapproval or lecturing. In the same survey, 44 percent reported that they believe it is okay to keep financial secrets from their spouses.
If you find yourself in these words, have faith. There is a reason you do what you do with money. We all have money beliefs that impact our daily lives.
